PermitScope Crawler
What this crawler is
DwellingContractorBot is a small, self-identifying crawler operated by PermitScope. It visits a contractor's own public website to read the business contact information the contractor publishes for customers (business name, contact email, services offered, service area). We use it to reach the right inbox when we introduce our property-intelligence service to a licensed contractor.
It identifies itself on every request with this User-Agent:
DwellingContractorBot/1.0 (+https://permitscope.dev/bot; [email protected])
How it behaves (good-faith crawling)
- Honest identity. We never spoof a browser or disguise the crawler. The User-Agent above names the bot, this page, and a contact address.
- Gentle rate. At most one request every 5 seconds to any single site, and slower when your robots.txt sets a longer Crawl-delay. The load is indistinguishable from one person reading your site.
- Public pages only. We read only publicly reachable pages (your homepage and your Services, About, and Contact pages). We never log in, never submit forms, never accept cookie or consent walls, and never attempt to bypass a CAPTCHA, paywall, or bot-protection challenge.
- Business facts, not people. We collect business contact details a company publishes about itself. We do not build profiles of individuals and we do not use anything we read to judge any person's eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, or housing.
How to opt out or request removal
Email [email protected] and tell us the domain you control. We will stop crawling it and remove any business information we hold for it. We honor these requests promptly and treat this as the authoritative way to reach us; you do not need to explain why.
Legal posture
We crawl only public business-contact information. PermitScope's outputs are not consumer reports under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C. § 1681) and are never used for any FCRA permissible purpose. Any outreach that follows is commercial email governed by the CAN-SPAM Act, with a working opt-out in every message.
